Hello
Everyone I have a Vivitar Media card reader and every card I put in shows up read only? Any ideas?
Yes, you may insert an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card into the Vivitar 50-in-1 Memory Card Reader / Writer and connect the card reader to a computer to transfer files from your computer to the SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card. Answered by: Manzell. Date published: 2021-01-26.
Drivers For Vivitar 50 In 1 Card Reader Mac Os
Never reformat a camera's memory card using your Mac — always reformat the card or delete pictures from it using your camera's menu commands, not the Mac. A card that's been formatted on a Mac or had pictures added to or deleted from it by a Mac is likely to be found unusable by many cameras. Reformatting in the camera usually resolves that problem.
As for your card being seen as read-only by the Mac, that's not a drawback if you adhere to the practices I've recommended above. But if you want to use an SD card for something other than uploading photos from your camera to your Mac, then it's a pain, and the problem ha been reported here a number of times before. For some people, inserting the card very fast into the SD slot has remedied the problem. Others have found that they need to push the card slightly upward, downward or to one side or the other while inserting it, rather than just pushing it straight in. Still others have found that certain cards' locking sliders bind against the side of the slot and get pushed into the locked (read-only) position as the card is inserted. You can experiment with all these ideas and see what happens, but in some cases just switching to a different brand of card has been the answer. And while it's irksome to contemplate resorting to a USB card reader when you have what ought to be a perfectly good SD reader built into your computer, for some people that has been preferable to relying on an unreliable SD slot.

I've had my blackberry curve 8520 for over a year and never had any problems with the media card until now. I'm unable to look at any pictures, videos or music on my phone as i can not install the media card on my phone. I'm unable to repair it and format it also. The media card will also not be read when I plug it into my laptop with the USB.
I definitely know its the media card and not my phone itself as I've tried my brothers media card in my phone and it worked perfectly. When i put my media card in his phone, it did the same thing and came up with the same error.
Does anyone know how i'll be able to make the media card read in my phone or my pc so I can backup the data as I don't really want to lose it all?
Any help appreciated,
Thanks! From what you describe, the data that was on the media card is already gone. If the PC cannot read it and the BB cannot read it, then it has for some reason been fried. I'm sorry for your loss.
You can try PC-based recovery utilities, but typically with flash memory (as opposed to magnetic memory of hard drives), once the data is gone, it's gone for good. But, you never know...give some of those a try and see what happens. Before you ask, no...I've no guidance for one versus another.
Good luck!

When i put my media card on it wont read it unless i turn mass storage mode On, but when i turn it off it will read it on the BB but not on the pockemac sync program and wont recognize it as a media card.
I am using a mac so i dont know if that is a problem but help would be greatly appreciated.
thxHi and welcome to the forums!
Leave masws storage mode enabled. It allows you PC to access the media card to load data.
You can also set it to not prompt you to open mass media mode when connected.
Just to make sure, make sure these options are enabled:
Media Card window ON
Encryption NONE Mass storage support ON
Auto enable when connected YES

Install BlackBerry Protect it's a free application designed to help find your lost BlackBerry smartphone, and keep the information on it secure.I use a Panasonic FZ30, which is nowhere to be found on the Aperture camera support pages. So, if I use an external media card (sD) reader, will Aperture import the files? RAW would be great, but JPG would do if the issue is Aperture not liking Pan RAW files.
Anyone know?
TIA,
MauryOk Maury, a quick test on your part. If you open finder and browse to a folder with your Panasonic files in it, can you see thumbnail pictures of those files? If not, then Aperture probably won't import those files. I've read taht there seems to be some correlation between what the OS can handle and what Aperture can handle.
This is only conjecture on my part, but should be a quick and dirty check that you can do.
Jeff WeinbergVerizon changed my phone. Now I get ' Content rights do not match the device. Please insert the media card back to the right device.' Help, please & thanks.
Hello,
Ohhhhh...ouch. It sounds like, on your old BB, you had Content Protection or Encryption activated. As such, the data on the media card is indeed only readable by the exact device that conducted the encryption of the information. If you can get access to it, you could use it to copy the data to a computer via Mass Storage Mode. If you can't get access to the old device, then you likely are left with only one option -- reformat the media card in this new device and lose all of the data.
Good luck!

PIN: C0005A9AA Display/Scan Bar CodeIs it possible to store information directly to the media card from the web browser? Is there a way to store to the media card from the phone?
What do you mean? What do you want to store from the web to the media card?
Hi. I just got the Blackberry Curve 8330 last week and am still having some problems. My latest is this: i bought a 2 gb media card and installed into phone. Then i transferred about 50 or so songs onto the card. Later I went to transfer more music but got an error message that the files could not be transferred. I looked under options/media card and read: total space 1.8 gb free space 1.4 gb. Talked with verizon wireless and was told to format the card, which i did. repeated everything but same problem. now verizon tells me the media card is bad. i bought a new 2 gb card, formatted, and tried again. same exact thing. once i put 20 % capacity on the card i get this same message. does anyone think it may actually be the phone? or something else? thank you.
Do you have a memory card reader? If so connect the media card to the computer via a memory card reader, and then try to load the music files there Do you get a similar message?
Message Edited by JeremyKitching on 06-02-2008 03:30 PMAfter I restart and insert my PCMICA media card reader will show up on the desktop but only once. After I eject the card and reinstall it will not show up on the desktop. The card appears in the menu bar but no where else not on the desktop or in a finder sidebar. It acts like it is permanently ejected. The only solution is to restart which is time consuming during a photo-shoot (Sleep/Wake and Finder Relaunch do not solve this). I have two media card readers one for CF cards and a 4in1 for smaller cards. Both act in the same way and once one has been ejected the other wont mount as well. Both cards worked fine in system 10.3.9. System log does not show any difference in loading when it mounts and when it doesn't.
Well, I tried the hardware test and now we know it is a software problem(hardware checks out fine).
I checked out the Delkin website. That was disappointing. Looks like I need to buy more hardware to solve this one. Worse yet if I spend the $100 for two cards they wont work in my next laptop as I plan to get a MacBook as soon as PhotoShop is Intel ready.
So now the question is what do I do with this growing mountain of unusable peripherals. My business is small but we've bought a lot of macs. Close to 50 now. We had a few before Y2K and just before we replace all the PCs with iMacs and G4's. System 8.6 was great and every printer and reader and camera and scanner and external storage device (some going back to 1989) worked great. Now that we have 'upgraded' the software so we can do really complicated things like properly viewing web pages and send authorized email nothing works right. I have faxes (Apple 56k in a G4) that can't detect detect dial tone when faxing but can connect to the internet as a modem. Printers that print fine in TextEdit (PS fonts and all) but can't print out of Excel. Dont even get me started about fonts. The list keeps growing and the only answer I hear is to replace perfectly good hardware with new stuff. Then when I do I find the software wont work. (I had to use a old laptop with 10.3 to run the latest software from Version to set up a friends home DSL.) I need to get out of this loop it is costing more than it's worth.I have a hp Pavilion dv4-1123us laptop that won't read a 16 GB SDHC media card. The card works in my PC, so the card is good. I have a Scandisk 5-1 media reader hooked to my home PC that would not read it but I found through Scandisk site I needed to download the latest Firmware which I did and now the card works on my PC. The reader has always and still does read a 512 MB and a 2 GB XD cards on my laptop. I am running XP Pro OS.
I have searched the HP site for driver downloads but only see them for Windows 7 and 8 not XP.
Can someone help me on this?Hello wgray826,
You’re having a problem not being able to read a 16GB SDHC card.
I think that your computer does not support the SDHC card.
Here is a link to your user guide and what cards it supports.
I noticed that it shows the Secure Digital but not the Secure Digital High Capacity.

Is it possible to configure an x200 wtih the 3-1 Media Card Reader w/o Modem instead of the 5-1 Media Card Reader w/ Modem. Their is only one option for the x200 ( 5-1), however for the x200s the option for either one is available. So if call lenovo would I be able to get the 3-1 instead?
Note from Moderator: Added more descriptive subject.
Message Edited by nonny on 12-19-2008 08:14 PMI am confused by this as well. I don't quite understand why it gives you the option of 3-1 without modem or 5-1 with modem. You would think the less capable card reader would go with the modem... The price was the same either way on the x200 so I just did 5-1 with modem. Still a bit unclear on Lenovo's part if you ask me.
Hi,
I have a client that is using PSE8 Organizer and all of a sudden it has stopped reading the media card automatically. My client believes this happened after an update by Adobe Updater.
They say that it used to be a simple process of placing the card in the card reader and then a window would pop up where they would select the icon / program for PSE8, however the icon was missing and when clicking this link, my client was presented with a message saying that the link was broken. I advised my client to uninstall the program and then to reinstall, which has fixed this issue i.e. the icon and back and when clicking the link there is no message.
However that is as far as it goes, the link doesn't produce any results and the media card is not read.
If my client accesses the card as a folder through PSE8 Organizer then the images are shown, but again are not automatically loaded into the application.
My client really would like the automatic function restored.
Has anyone else had this problem and knows how to resolve it please?
The machine is running Windows XP 32-bit SP3.
The only oddity I can see is that the application is installed to the external hard drive as opposed to the normal internal hard drive. Would this cause problems with the application?
Thanks,
CliveSRTHi,
Thanks for the reply. I have checked the setting that you mentioned and it is set to automatic. When inserting the card into the card reader we are again prompted to open the files with an application, which my client selects PSE8. However this is as far as we get as nothing else appears to happen.
Thanks,
Clive.hey, i am trying to hook up an iogear usb media card reader, a usb memory stick, and a portable 2.5' hdd to the belkin mac mini usb hub, and the hub to the old airport extreme n base station.
the usb stick and the hard drive are recognized without any problems.
the media card reader shows up in the disks tab of the airport utility, but it doesn't show something is connected to the card reader when a card is added. it just keeps showing 0MB in all four slots.
usb hub is powered, card reader is not.
when i connect the reader to the AEBS directly i get the same result, so i don't think the hub is the problem, since it runs other two devices flawlessly.
usb card reader works fine when connected directly to any computer as well.
any ideas? is it not possible to connect a card reader to the base station?Unfortunately not.
The only devices that work are printers, disk drives and hubs.I'm wondering if any other T420s owners have had this problem with the media card reader.
Until about two weeks ago, the laptop was working fine, or so I thought. I usually put the laptop to sleep mode instead of shutting it down completely just to speed up boot process. Then, two weeks ago, I tried shutting it down completely. It got all the way to the 'shutting down' screen but it would not completely turn off unless I hold down the power button.
It took a while for me to figure out that the media card reader was preventing it from completely shutting down -- even after restoring it to factory settings. Hardware manager recognizes the controller. It also recognizes the card reader if an SD card is inserted but would not assign a drive letter to the reader (i.e., I cannot read the card).
This is what I've tried:
1. Uninstalled and re-installed the drivers for the smart card reader and the controller. That didn't work.
2. Restored the laptop to factory settings. That didn't work.
3. Uninstalled and deleted the drivers for the smart card reader and the controller, then downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Lenovo website after restoring the laptop to factory settings. That didn't work.
The only common thing in the process is this: the laptop would not shut down completely if there is an SD card in the reader. I initially suspected that it was the SD card itself but I've tried it with four different SD cards and the results were all the same -- it would not shut down if the card was inserted. While displaying that 'shutting down' screen, it will shut down immediately after I pull out the SD card, even if it's been hanging in that state for minutes.
I suspect that it is the card reader itself that's causing the problem, and that I need to have it replaced (the laptop is still under warranty). However, I thought I'd seek the advice of the experts out there and find out what their thoughts are.
Thanks.
Solved!

Just took it to an authorized service center in Gaithersburg, MD (about 10 minutes from my office). I hope it's simply a matter of replacing the card reader.
BTW, 4-in-1 reader doesn't mean much. It's just an SD, SDHC, SDXC and MMC reader. Pretty much the same form factor. Now if it can read both SD and CF cards, I'll be really happy (my DSLR uses CF).
Thanks to everyone who offered advice. I'll post the service center's findings when I get my laptop back.
Good luck!!!
Yeah I have/had the same problem I have a DSLR that uses both CF xD, my HP notebook mulitcard reader reads xD, SD (4GB), but no CF. CF is a big card so I can see that as a problem on some notebooks. However I also have a camera using the Memory Stick Pro and it goes into the same slot on my HP but as you said. Lenovo's reader is only supporting the SD series which is a bummer. I still have to use an external reader for two other cameras.

My built in media card reader has stopped recognizing my cards when I put them it. Usually a green lite will light up on the card and then the auto run will pop up, but not nothing.
The only thing I've done recently was install a sandisk ultra backup 16gig flash drive hardware and I use the flash drive in the USB port that is just above the card reader.
I also have 2 other USB ports on the right side of the computer. I was going to use on of them for the flash drive, but they seem to be dead or something. I tried to plug my iphone into them and they do nothing, it doesn't charge or anything.
Do each USB's have to be dedicated to a particular pariphial?
I guess I can live with one USB working but I certainly need my card reader to work.

Shows.
What is needed is write support a config option?
Thanks
DaveIn case it might help some one :-
The write protect was connected to a pin that was floating. I needed to change that and tie the signal low. What is a pain is hardware changes don't easily feed forward in petalinux, it was quicker to start again than try to update the hardware.
